10 month learnings

May 10, 2020

I have worked as a web developer at a scale-up company for roughly 10 months now. These are some of my learnings.

  • Importance of infrastructure
  • Microservices are tricky to work with
  • Product owners don't care about code
  • Snapshot testing is boring and unmaintainable
  • Use tools that you like and not what other people use
  • Working on the same feature for a long time sucks
  • You are pretty much just a tool in a companie's toolbox
  • There's no such thing as clean code in big projects
  • Importance of guidelines and documentation
  • Code reviews are broken
  • Write tests
